Based on Hans Christian Anderson’s enchanting fairytale, The Emperor and the Nightingale is perfect for all ages about devotion and the healing power of love. Set in the Emperor’s Ancient Chinese palace, where exquisite ladies dance with painted fans and parasols – and exotic birds color the Oriental gardens, this ballet tells the story of a willowy Princess transformed into a Nightingale by an evil Sorceress. The Sorceress then fashions a mechanical Golden Nightingale to distract the Emperor from breaking the spell and freeing his Princess, but the Emperor’s broken heart can only be healed by the beautiful song of the true Nightingale.
